Denver, CO 1971
Raised
in St.
Louis, MO. Product of public schools and many hours
on the ice rink playing hockey.
Graduated
from
Miami University (Oxford, OH). Phi Beta Kappa with
a dual degree in Economics and English Literature.
Worked
first as
a journalist in London and Dublin. Moved to New
York where he became an editor at St. Martin's
Press. Then returned to Europe as a columnist for a
small Parisian magazine. Ping-ponged back to
Manhattan where short stints in the publishing
world compelled him to focus full-time on his
writing in 2000.
Published
three
books in the years since. With his first HIGHER,
Bascomb was chosen as a Barnes & Noble Discover
Great New Writer. His second PERFECT MILE ranked on
a number of national bestseller and
best-book-of-the-year lists. His third RED MUTINY
is scheduled to be published in May 2007.
Presently, he is at work on a fourth narrative
history, THE MAN FROM BUS 203. Bascomb's books have
been optioned for film, featured in several
documentaries, and sold in translation in ten
countries. On occasion, he also contributes to
the
New York Times.
Lives
in the
West Village with his wife and daughter. Soon to
move to the great state of Brooklyn where he
intends to adopt a dog.
